Halloween
It is upon us. I for one am looking forward to handing out candy... and coating my hands and arms in sanitizer so not to contract one of 10,000 infectious diseases these little buggers will be carrying. Call me paranoid if you would like, but I will be damned if I get sick from one of them.

The Harvest Dance
Went to "The Harvest Dance" at the school last night. A word of advice to schools who wish to have these things in the future: If you are going to have a dance, make sure there is good ventilation. It was 95 degrees in the gym and all the kids were running around like crazy people. Do you know what happens when a bunch of first and second graders get together to run around in that heat? It was not a pleasant smell, that I can assure you.
I digress... They all seemed to have a really good time and I am sure they all went home and slept like rocks. Well they would have, had it not been for the constant infusion of sugar provided by the school in the form of all the cookies, cupcakes and punch they could get their little hands on. Thanks PTA...

Birthday Parties
Having a seven year old child is one of the most exciting things you can experience. Having a seven year old child who, in most cases, is smarter than you is not. Don't get me wrong, I am so proud to be the parent of such a smart child, but clearly I am outgunned in a battle of wits for the rest of my years.
This is not good...
A friend of mine recently brought up birthday parties in a casual conversation. I got the chills thinking about the progression of what these parties will entail with a tween girl and all of her friends. I mean, could I feel any more out of place than in a crowd of 11-12 year old girls? At a mall? Never mind the increasing costs. Camping was suggested and I cringed at the thought of being alone in the woods with that many tweens. I fear that with no route for escape, I may just wander off into the woods...
Ok, not really, but the thought still scares the crap out of me. Seriously.

The first post!
So here we are, my first post. The goal of this space is a place to share moments in parenting, gaming and the times when both cross. In talking with friends, I have found that "Real Parents" are almost never represented these days. There is some kind of idealistic idea that all parents should be perfect and all households should be full of rainbows and puppies all the time. Well living in the real world, I have found this is not the case.
So here is a place that I will share my stories, happenings and general thoughts on parenting, gaming and life. Hopefully other that eventually come here will share theirs as well.
So welcome!
